Pod filters on CV carbs is a big debate on allot of the forums.
The carbs are designed to share a common vacuume for fuel regulation.
This does not mean they will not work. You may or may not need to rejet.
Each bike I have worked with when it comes to pods reacts differently to them.
The do allot for better breathing and a slight "very slight" increase in performance when properly installed and tuned.
Tunning is one of the hard parts with pods.
I have them on my 91 zx600R.
What I do is get the bike to run as good as possible with no air box or filters installed.
It will probable cut out some on the higher RPM's this is normal since there is little vacuume to regulate the fuel.
Put the pods on and adjust the idle if needed. Now is the time to sync the carbs. Be very picky try to get them all the same. It can be done and may take some patients. You will need the gauges and a tach that can detect 50-100 rpm changes for tunning and syncing. Once synced "I wright down these changes that come next" with the tach connected adjust the pilot screw on carb 1 write down each change until it is right. bring idle back to normal. then do carb 2 the same way. until all are done. I wright down the changes to the pilots so I can undo them if something goes wrong.
take it for a test ride. if it does not run right then you probably eather have something in clogging up a carb or you need to rejet.
The big downfall to pods is this....... when you put new filters on you will probably need to retune it all over again. No to filters are the same. thats why they use a single filter for all cylendars on most factory bikes.
