Hi Simon, I had a KMX years ago when I lived in Aldershot (92/93), it was quite a good bike, I rode it in all weathers including snow. Until I fell of one night trying to do a bit of off roading and busted my wrist but thats another story. I guess the biggest give aways would be the lack of clocks on the off road machine, my KMX had the usual speedo, tacho and idiot lights. TBH I'd view a frame with no numbers as very suspicious - the KMX was the most stolen machine in UK at one time and it's a top bet that yours has been nicked at some point in its life. Have you go a reg number for it? If so you can go to the relevant website and check when it was last Tax'ed and on the road. You could also take the engine number to a Kwak dealers and ask politely if they will run it through their database, that at the very least will ID the engine allowing you to buy spares for it. Mine was water cooled and in de restricted form went like stink, it also had a seat like a plank and after only a short time your backside would ache like no tomorrow! Good luck and keep us posted with your findings. |

Hi there, I don't really have a clue what to do on here, I'm new to forums, as am I new to motor biking. I've just bought a 1992 KX 125 off road bike. I had my first outing on it on saturday 21st, and basically just used up the rest of the fuel the guy had in the tank previously, and the bike was running great after it had had a decent warm up. But I rose on sunday and went straight to my local garage with a jerry can to fill up and before filling the jerry can I put in 120ml of fully synthetic 2 stroke as instructed by the previous owner. I then went out on the bike, and gave it a good ten minute run up my field and back a few times, then I shut it off for a break, and since then I can't get it to start? I phoned the nearest motor bike garage, and they assured me that all I needed was a new spark plug. But I'm quite paranoid that its down to the different brand of 2 stroke I put in? Literally any help will be much appreciated! Thanks, Jamie. |
