Hiya,I have a Zephyr 550 91 (b2) and I wondered if there were any other zephyr owners out there who would like to chat, exchange stories, info, experiences etc. Be great to hear from 550 owners or 750 owners or anyone really! I'm new to the forum so would be good to make new buddies. Hope to hear from you soon, cheers, Karl

Hiya Tracy, Good to hear from you again. I agree, zephyr's are good fun. Wouldn't it be great if money was no obstacle when choosing our next bike! So do you have a bike at the moment or do you just ride hubby's? |

Got a zx 400 c2 called George, he's great round town but lacks on the open roads. If you go into the ladies bit I think there's a pic of him. Which part of the country are you in? |

Hi Tracy, Just seen George, Nice paint job!, did you do it yourself? I'm glad the weather is starting to pick up now, I love my Zephyr but the mudguards could be better, can get messy in the wet! The bike has got a lot of good points though, as you know from the 750. Have you been riding long? I live in Birmingham, West Midlands, how bout you? Karl |

That is a nice looking Trike...Was thinking about getting a trike that I could take 4 year old on...as his feet don't reach the foot pegs yet It would be a lot cheaper than running a car! Did paint work myself, past test Aug last year & just needed a cheap bike to run. Think your about 80 odd miles away from me..Peterborough..Cambridgeshire. News on the Zephyr front...if I can find hubby another bike...I get the Zephyr

hi im lukey i have a zr550 just got it last month and still not had time to ride it. at the min im struggling getting the headlight working its not the original one so there are wires all over the place thinking about stripping it and starting again to be honest cos its a bit of a wreck. all i know about the bike is that it sounds lovely while its stood there growling at me and cant wait to get it on the road. if there are any things you could tell me about this bike that you think might be helpfull i would like to know keep you up to date on how far i get with it. one more thing i want to raise the back shockers is it as easy as lifting the bike and twisting the shocker then tinkering with the chain to re-tighten it? |

Hiya Lukey, good to hear from you buddy. Had my Zephyr for about 5 months now and love it, so stick with it mate and you won't regret it, the benefits far outway minor problems. What year is yours? I havn't had many problems with mine apart from fixing previous owners bodge jobs! Don't leave the bike in the switched on position for too long without the engine running, it drains the battery quite quickly. To avoid flooding when first starting the engine just remember to use choke properly. I havn't tinkered with the shock's yet, I'm happy with them as they are, the haynes manual for these bikes are invaluable though and cover most job's. Best of luck hunting for bit's and keep in touch! Regards, Karl. |

Hi karl, Welcome to this site. I have Zephyr 550cc is a 1995. I use her as a commuting bike and have had no problems with it. It is in good condition and has only just turned 31.000 miles on the clock. I have owned her for 2 yrs now and was a good buy. I live in Soham, Cambridgeshire, and not many if any Zephyr owners around here. I think tracy is over at Peterborough not to far away though. I was wondering if panniers can be fitted to the 550cc as we would like to tour about the country on her.? Not sure if panniers would look ok. Mine is britich racing green in colour. Safe riding, Regards, Dave

Hiya Dave, nice to find another Zephyr owner, I think we are just as rare as our bikes!Like you I use mine for work and pleasure, mines deep red in colour, great bikes. I might be a bit biased but I think panniers would look good on a zephyr, its just getting panniers to fit and match up that might be a challenge, best of luck if you follow that one up. Have you still got your crash bars fitted, thinking of taking mine off purely for cosmetic reasons! Keep in touch bud, take care, Karl

Hi Dave, yes I am in Peterborough so if you want to catch up any time give us a shout. Mines black with a purple glow, not had many problems with it. Had to replace rear shocks and a bit of welding on the exhaust. As for panniers I have the oxford sport soft ones ( ok they are yellow old ones) but they fit mine fine (750) ok, Take care all Tracy x |

Hi Tracy and Karl,Thanks for the replies back. Yes am looking at panniers as me and the bird go camping quite a bit in the car we thought we would try it on the bike. We wont be going round the world doing it so think bike 550cc will be ok. I have looked at a site www.vyxxn.co.uk that do parts and stuff for our Zephers. With the rack and top box plus 2 x throwover bags total cost is £180 delivered so not to bad. Only need them on when out and about. Will leave top box on to. I have tried to put a pic of my bike here but cant do it as it says error each time grrrrr. No i dont hav eany crash bars on mine either. You both will have to let me know when and where your out and about maybe meet up some time? Take care speak soon, Dave
