I just purchased a new 2008 Nomad 1600 and the drivers seat hurts my tail bone after a short while in the saddle. I am tall (6' 1"). I don't have much of a butt, so my tail bone is never far from the seat. I think I would be more comfortable in a steel tractor seat than this motorcycle seat. I had a 1999 Nomad 1500 for 10 years, but it was not quite as bad as this one (I had similar problems but could tolerate it for a longer period). It seems that the softer the seat, the more the seat flattens to let my tailbone take more of the weight. Is there any way to remove some of the cushion material from under the tail bone area to alleviate the problem? Also, what is the best aftermarket seat that would work for my problem? In 2003 I saw a bike in Sturgis, SD that had a seat in which the whole area of the tailbone was cut out completely- wow ! (I can't now even remember what kind of Bike it was). My wife is very happy with the seat / backrest on this new bike (she said it was a lot better than the old bike). Thanks for any help. Sampc |
