Can any one tell me why there is a posistion on the fuel shut off valve that says "PRIM".....is this a posistion it should be in to "prime " the carbs on cold.thanks for your help...Jerry

I believe your shutoff valve is the same type as my ZG1000. There are 3 positions ON RES and PRIME. The valve is vacuum operated so it on in the ON or RES positions with the engine running and off in those positions when the engine is off. The PRIME position allows you to manually operate the valve to the on position without the engine running so you can fill the float bowls should you drain them or to empty the gas tank should you need too. Don't leave the valve in the prime position with the bike parked as you could flood out the bike or leak fuel if you have a carb problem.
