I took my newly installed Air Filter from when I had the oil changed about 1500 miles ago. I have been experiencing some trouble with the bike not wanting to go in the morning. I let it warm for 5-7 minutes with full choke on, and when I let off the clutch and pull the throttle, it dies. I have to give it a lot of gas to get it going. Lately it has backfired a few times also. So I started looking around, and pulled the air filter. It smells of gasoline. I don't think that is right, can someone confirm that or call me an idiot? I am slowly trying to work my way into the mechanics of my motorcycle so I do not have to run it to the dealer. I am thinking of scooterizing my bike according to Wolf's descriptions and changing the sprockets to 17 and 40. But I need to get the bike running better first.

Sounds like it's flooded unless It's below 30 degrees I would not use the choke IMHO :kaa

Since you didn't put your name in your profile I'll call you, "Hey You", Sounds to me like you may have an idle circuit problem or your floats my need to be set or one of your floats have fractured and is saturated. You didn't mention how many miles are on the bike or has it been sitting for any period of time. Gas does go stale in a short period of time and will gum up the carbs & floats. This sometimes effects carberator operation like the one you are experiencing. Pit cock vaccuum diapharms or even non-vaccuum types have O rings that will also go bad and will allow a bike to flood. Known problem on the ZRX Kawasaki's and many others. I don't know if you have a repair manual for your bike, but I always get one for all my bikes. This manual is a cheap way ($12-25.00) to get the majority of the basic questions for trouble shooting these types of problems. The manuals also have repair tips & nice pictures to help you with repair cost.
