hi, just bought a ruby red zzr250 and going for a licence. must be mad or a mid life crisis. done my cbt. is there anything i need tp know about bike i.e any strengths or weaknesses and how far will it go on a tank of petrol. what revs should it idle at? it idles at just under 1000 revs but seems to be labouring to me. thank you for all your advice.

I would say just ride, enjoy the days that are dry and worry about the rest latter.
They will knock, bang, backfire (the bike that is), you name it....as for gas?

Depends if you are riding like a granny or thrashing it !...
blue smoke is bad though..............but you know that eeeehhhhh

just enjoy!

as long as you are happy, the world is happy!..
Dont forget to close the visor, a happy biker always looks likes hes been eating flies ;-)
