Title: Z750/4 cams

RFdemon - June 28, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
1989 Z750P5 (GT) Does anyone know how to determine which cam is inlet and which is exhaust? Mine has R1 cast into one of them and the other has R2 cast into it. When I dismantled the head I marked R2 as the exhaust but a mate says it should be R1. I'm waiting to reassemble the head but don't want to do so until I can identify which one is which.

Just looked in my manual ( covers P1 model and cant see wht P5 would be different?) - it says ;

The exhaust camshaft differs from the inlet one. The exhaust camshaft has a large diameter portion on the right of the sprocket seat while the inlet one does not.

Hope that helps. :)

Many thanks for that Vinny! My manual just says that they are different. :256 Your findings back up my observation that R2 is the exhaust camshaft.

Back to the rebuild!

Cheers! :644
