Title: Falling on face...
Description: Fuel or ignition?

OldGuy - June 26, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
The GPz is now running. Sorta. She runs ok at idle. Get her moving and she falls on her face at about 3600- 4000rpm. Power is flat as a pancake (or Crepe if your french! :P ).

My experience with cars says it is fuel delivery related. As in the diaphragms or maybe the fuel needles. Have already cleaned out the passages the best I could and didn't really find anything clogging her up there. Am I on the right track? I have popped in two new sets of plugs and she does the same thing. Driving me nuts because I need to hit the highway to ge to the Sheriffs office to have her inspected for tags and title!

HELP PLEASE?!?!

I'd check the diaphrams first, they may have a pin hole in them.At those revs, the bike will be running on the main jets,so it may be worthwhile checking those.

Hi mate,

I had the same problem,my problem was down to the mixture screw on the bottom of the carb. When I opened the throttle the thing died but as you say on idle it would rev freely,I set the screw to 1.5 turns as per manual and the difference is like night and day.

Mines was set at 2.5 turns !!

Is your bike dyno jetted ??

No Dyno Jet and my adj. screws are plugged at the factory... US model. I am hoping that I can get this done at the least amount possible... I have been surfing the net to try to find the cheapest prices and it all looks like some high dollar stuff to have it done not to mention some of the parts! I still need to find a chain that won't destroy my wallet as well as a back tire! Kendas are pretty inexpensive but the wear out in like 10K miles! Had one before... good grip but lack of longevity isn't worth it for a daily rider.

I will check or replace the jets and the diaphragms. Thanks for the suggestions! Still going to check all the electrical too just to be on the safe side!
