Title: LED indicators for Z750. Any advice?

71bandit - June 19, 2008 01:29 PM (GMT)
Thinking about changing the indicators on me 07 Z750. Like the look of some LED ones but bit concerned about the whole "need a new relay to control the flash rate."
Any one tried this mode? Was it straight forward, any advice or recommended make?

Cheers

There's two ways you can do this, fit the LED's and also a new relay or get a couple of resistors in line with the LED indicators. With the standard relay left in, the flasher unit flashes fast because there is less resistance in the circuit as you are using LED's instead of a filament. For a replacement relay you could try a Motrax "Flash-it" unit.

Sometimes the resistors are supplied with the LED's, but if not you can pick them up from Maplins. If you pop in there, they will tell you exactly what you need anyway, if you tell them the application.

Hope that helps :055

Thanks for the advice Merc. Have seen the resistors on ebay. Might have a shop round at the weekend.

Thanks again.

I went down the RESISTER route on my old Z750. YUK ! wish I never bothered. I personally do not like the idea of changing my bike beyond the point where it can not easily be put back to standard. Resisters require you to cut wires etc. The best is just to fit a replacement relay. You can get them specificly for your model and the fittings are just push on connections......

Thanks jonjak.

Still trying to grt hold of a manual to check out the relay position etc on the new model. Haynes are bringing one out this month. Not too keen on chopping wires either if it can be avoided.
