Title: Z 750
Description: Chain and transmission noise

modulus - June 12, 2008 03:27 PM (GMT)
Hi,
I have just swapped a Ducati 900ss for a new model Z750.
Mechanical noise is much less than the Ducati but I get a lot of chain noise (sounds like the chain bouncing on the plastic guides on the swingarm) and the whining from the transmission when slowing down is driving me mad. Apart from that I love the bike. My dealer says that he can't find anything wrong with it. Does anyone else experience this?

Hi, I dont know what else you have owned, but my 800 mile old Z has only the usual chain driven valve train noise.
Have you checked the drive chain tension?
If the bike is brand new and your dealer finds no fault then maybe take it to a different dealer for its first service and get them to cast a different eye over it.
You wouldnt have heard valve noise on your Ducati for the rest of the racket.
I feel sure if you say which area you live in a fellow Z owner will meet up and compare bikes with you.
If its any consolation my Kawasaki does make more mechanical noise than the Honda i owned before.
Good Luck

Hi There

I have excatly the same prob and the longer I travel the worse it gets! (maybe cos of the heat) I took mine to my dealer after 1200 miles and he said it was fine (even with my GF sat on the back) so after he rode it round the block and played with the chain he said it was fine but it is making me lose confidence in the bike!!!

Also I have hade a few probs and some ongoing 1s with that dealer so will need to find another 2 have a peeky at but if i find anything out i will let you no

can any 1 recomend some good luggage for when ur going 2s up??

Hi,
Have you tried lubing the chain using heavy gear oil (eg: SAE90) - this might help ?
Suggest wearing ear plugs when you ride aswell if you don't already.
