Title: clutch biting point

hi all ive just bought my first bike zx6r. '99 plate for some reason the clutch is biting right at the end ,when the lever is nearly fully out. my mates who are bike owners say that it is also very late . is there any way to adjust it too make it bite a bit sooner . any feedback on this would be very much appreciated as i am clueless and new to bikes. thanks
kwik

SEE IF IT CAN BE ADJUSTED AT THE LEVER.THERE IS AN ADJUSTER AND THUMB WHEEL WHERE THE CABLE GOES INTO THE LEVER,IF THAT DOESN'T HELP,THE CABLE NEEDS ADJUSTED AT THE ENGINE END.
YOU WOULD BE BEST TO GET A WORKSHOP MANUAL,ORDER ONE FROM A DEALER.
THERE IS A LOT OF INFO THERE THATS NOT IN THE HANDBOOK THAT COMES WITH THE BIKE.WHEN YOU GET IT, READ THE PARTICULAR SECTION FOR THE JOB A FEW TIMES UNTIL YOU BECOME FAMILIAR.
A GOOD BIT OF ADVICE IS: SOMETIMES THE BEST TOOL IN THE BOX IS A SMOKE BREAK.

Not being familiar with the zx6r, does it have a hydraulic clutch?

If it does, then it might be as simple as bleeding/replacing the clutch fluid?
