 hello everyone,i have replaced my front pads with ebc h-h.icleaned the pistons with a q-tip and some clean brake fluid.went for a ride to brake them in.after the first easy application i could hear them drag, and the discs got hot.these are the 6 piston calipers.the bike has 45000 km.are these brakes famous for dragging ? any tips i have ordered 2 caliper overhaul kits, but its gonna be three weeks.thank you
Seems to be a thing with Kawas. My W650's front brake is the same and its predecessor, a Z550 was the same.
Before you fit new seals, check pistons for corrosion and give them a rub with wire wool or very fine wet and dry paper.Give the pins & sliders a rub down and a smear of copper grease,do the backs of the pads too.
You should make sure the groove the hydraulic seal sits in is clean. Any corrosion that builds up in them will cause the seals to press to hard on the pistons, so they do not retract.
I normally use a nylon brush attachment in a Dremel tool to clean them out. The nylon is hard enough to get the dirt out, but they will not damage the cylinder if you slip!
 thanks you guys.i am still waiting for the caliper overhaul kits, but i had to have a look and i saw the pistons in top shape no debris around, only took out the dust seals, put it all back together.BUT i saw that the rotor was not in the center of the caliper so far that the disc was rubbing on a piece of the caliper.removed the pads and knocked the disc back(gently).ok, put the pads back, bled all the bubbles i could find and went for a ride.not good within 3 or 4 brake applications i removed the spring covering the pads and saw the disc all the way to the same side as before rubbing on the disc.the side of the pistons that dont come out of their bores very much is the outside half of the caliper, the side where the fluid goes in.thanks for listening.
