Title: zx6r g2.....

Ohmtastic - May 29, 2008 10:12 AM (GMT)
Recently failed its MOT due to "notchiness" on the steering when central and moving left or right.

Bike has only done 13000miles only doing 1200miles since its MOT last year with myself doing 700 of those miles.

Previous MOT didn't pick up any problems, can a problem like this happen that quickly, i'm going for this is a amount of use problem and not an age problem.

It was explained to me that as the bike travels in a straight line the steering bearing squares off causing the notchiness.

I haven't noticed any notchiness when riding and i've been riding it for 4 months now. The only problem i got was caused by a dirty air filter.

any thoughts?

thx

Hi there, i've just ordered new head race bearings for my G1 as i can now feel them going just like you say. Mine were fine last year too.

hold the steering straight ahead and lightly turn the bars and if the bearings are worn or wearing you'll feel the notch like a sort of sticking feeling.
