Hi Everyone

I just bought my very first bike - a GPZ500S, shes beuatiful. The fairings need a little TLC so i have decided to give them a DIY paint job. Im quite artistic and have a steady hand so im going to give it my best shot. I bought a kit from RS motorbike paint, theyre brilliant apparently. The kit consists of -

Farecla G4 paste compound
p800 wet/dry paper
Silver base coat spray can
Candy Cradinal red spray can
Laquer spray can
Muslin cloth

My bike is candy cardinal red, which has specs of glitter as i call it, so im guessing thats why i have a silver base coat to put on before the red. To be honest i thought the red paint would have come with the specs in it but according to other forums ive read thats how candy colours are made? The fairings are half red half pearl alpine white with a pink stripe in between, im going to take off the fairings and mask the pink stripe and white parts. But i was wondering if anyone has any tips on the whole thing? I just want some advice before i start really! :D

Samantha,here's a few tips:
De-grease the fairing with 'Gunk' or similar.
Make sure you have adequate work space and that it is spotless.
Cover anything you don't want covered in paint.
Before you paint, dampen the floor - this will keep any remaining dust from getting airborne.
Practice on an old panel with an old tin of paint until you are happy with your technique.
Apply in thin coats and allow to dry between coats.
If you do get a paint run,let it dry thoroughly before carefully trimming it with a sharp craft knife blade.
Take your time.
