Have just fitted a brand new starter clutch but still have same symptoms ( slipping ). Is it possible the starter motor brushes could be worn creating the problem
Paul is the crankshaft rotor bolt done up tight with loctite cuz
on both my Z1000s they got a tendency to work loose and give the
impression the starter clutch isnt working ie just spinning :fdq

Everything is tightened and threadlocked ? starter brushes if anyone knows
hi paul i had a z650 for about 15 years and i had a problem with it slipping as well i might be wrong here but is there not a pin type thing that gets worn and needs replaced that locks in when the starter engages (excuse the lingo cant mind the name)
Bushes are next thing id check and the condition of
the armature that spins in the bushes grooves should be
very evident they can be redressed with a small file if not
to badly worn, also bit of a shot in the dark if the bearing
at the armature end of the starter is worn this can cause the
armature to "float" and lose contact with the bushes hope this helps.
