Hi gang :D

Was talking to a mate at work the other day when he asked me a question I'm about to ask you lot.
So get them brain cells working :o
What was the first bike you ever riden?

My first ride was on my grandad's CB250-G5 way back in the early 80's. :zig

When I turned 16, my mum & dad got me a ZR50-X1 :444 for going to work.
I remember changing the plug and swapping the headgasket for foil to got more speed.
It worked, it could do 35mph instead of 30mph(with your head behind the clocks).

Hi, the first bike I went on was a BSA C15, at the age of eight I used to get picked up from school on it by my brother, NO CRASH HELMET.
The first bike I owned was a Raliegh Wisp bought for grand sum of £5.
With my mates we then progressed through Bantams, C50s stripped of all their plastics, then to motocross bikes, all great fun at that age.

The First bike I got a ride on was a friend of mines Honda CB650. 83 I think it was... The first one I owned was a Suzuki GS450LG. Great little bike for a first one. After 6 months I wanted BIGGER! The next one was a Suzuki Madura 700. Now it's an 83 GPz750! Love the classics!

My first bike ride was on a 1966 BSA Bantam D7,in 1986.
It belonged to a guy I worked with who was selling it. One of my mates decided to buy it,but having no licence and staying 20 miles away,it was to be picked up by van at my place.
So after a quick run down of the controls,I was off up the farm road that I used to walk to work (I had no licence either!!). It was only a 10 minute ride, but I had a huge grin when I arrived home, much to the dismay of my parents! I was in love! but it would be 8months before that love would be re-kindled,when I bought it from my mate.

Now, let me see......
my first ride on a bike was on the back of a mates xs 250 yam when i was 14,
by the time i was 16 the first bike i owned was a fizzer (yamaha FS1E) which was held together with hairy string and bent coat hangers.

Those were the days,
A de-coke would take you half a day.
As for ABS,linked brakes, electric start,.....and the like. The choke was on the carb(not on the bars(fumbling for the choke at 30 in the rain)).
Kick starting in the snow & ice(red bum time).
Riding was by the seat of your pants.
I was riding past a school the other day and what was coming out?
A pack of hoodies on 57 & 07 plate scooters,wanting to race me on a 125 cruiser.
What did I do? Turned off for the m/way(M6/M58) and they tried to follow.
:pqv You can't beat the good old days :ace

Puch maxi was my first bike ever ridden, Then the obvious Honda melody to get me through the C.B.T. Two days after passing that straight onto a 1976 suzi gt125, A year or so after chucked that in for a honda cm250, (Biggest mistake of my youth), Another year on and got an rd350 lc2 and how i never killed myself on that i never know.

OldGuy - January 15, 2008 04:22 AM (GMT)
Yes... The days of our youth...

BOBTHEWELDER - January 16, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
MY FIRST BIKE WAS A SUZUKI PE250 RACING DIRT BIKE I WAS 14 YEARS OLD WHEN I BOUGHT IT. HAD IT UNTIL 16 THEN NO BIKES UNTIL YEAR BEFORE LAST I BOUGHT A 94 HARLEY 1200 SPORTSTER. DRAG PIPES AND ALL. (TALK ABOUT LOUD) I SOLD IT AND BOUGHT A 2006 VULCAN 900LT. BOY WAS THAT A STEP UP! O I KNOW , MOST GUYS THINK HARLEY IS THE ONLY BIKE BUILT BUT AFTER HAVING ONE I CAME TO REALIZE IT IS THE NAME ON THE TANK THEY ARE PAYING FOR. FOR A SMOOTH RIDE AND THE COMFORT OF NOT WORRYING ABOUT IT VIBRATING APART I WILL PAY HALF THE MONEY AND RIDE MY VULCAN. BUT THAT IS JUST MY OPINION.
BOB :kawas

:461 The 1st bike was a 1947 no gears no clutch moped of doubtful origin and dubious parentage purchased for £1-10/- (or £1.50 for you youngsters out there!)It did at least have a twistgrip and a elastic band front suspension.I used to ride it along the side of a relatively unused railway line as I was only about 13.Sold it for £6 which was an awful lot of Mars bars(360 as it happens!)
