Title: Z750
SimonB - December 14, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
Hello,
I'm running a 2007 Z750 as part of Bike magazine's long term test fleet. I'm interested to hear what other riders think their 2007 Zeds, it'd be good to hear from you.
Cheers,
Simon

Hi, Simon I bought a Z750 at the new registration having read numerous road tests not all of which were favourable. I went to this from a CBR 600 which was far superior in its build quality, but nobody paid attention to it.
I did buy the Z mainly for its looks, and everybody was right about the seat.
The suspension has come in for a lot of critisism, and in my opinion quite rightly,
Several times now i have felt it cant fully cope. However turning the damping screws in has improved things.
I do feel your magazines recent reviews were too scathing,to say the bike was such a let down because the side stand is too upright and the passenger seat is unaccomadating was quite frankly pathetic.
For those of us who use our bikes for a quick Sunday blast, and are not interested in going round the Milbrook circuit flat out then its not a bad bike at all.
I bought this for its steetfighter looks with no intention of commuting on it
And for that reason I do still feel I made the right choice

A friend of mine bought a new z750 and he agrees with all the points made regarding the suspension and finish. Apart from that, he says he cant stop smiling when he rides it. can't all be bad i suppose.

Hi Simon, I was wondering why your magazine never shows your bike on the Bike garage part of the website.
Did Kawasaki take it back for all the bad press your lot gave it.
Still pleased with mine by the way.

The trouble with bike mag articles is they all seem to be interested in how fast a bike can do something. The Z750 is not about that. In my opinion this bike is by far the best looking of the bunch, although the new Fazer has got a little closer. The engine has plenty of punch and is the right balance of low end torque and top end go. Sure the bike is let down by a weedy shock, but it is a budget bike compared to the ZXR's etc. 99% of bikers just buy and ride, but if you want your bike to perform better on the cornering side, then it has to be correctly set up for you and not MR average. You then need to ask your self what type of roads you are going to use your bike on. Understand that if you want this level of perfection like the GP and WSB kings, then your settings should change according to your road etc. Lets not go down that road.I have owned both new and old Z's and they are great bikes. Seating a little firm as per kwak. The finish is not an issue, the issue normally lies in the owner not keeping it clean. Salt kills all but the toughest of bikes. I love my Z and have no problems with the few less than perfect areas. :kawas :441

I got my Zed on 04/09/07 and I can't smile wide enough whenever i look or ride it. It looks the dogs, looks aggresive and despite it being a budget bike with a budget price I still feel the bike looks quality.
I'm an average Joe been riding since 2002 i'm no knee down hero or anything like that but I must say for me the bike is fantastic.
There's plenty of bolt on goodies available for it, I just can't decide what can I want for it.
I'm off to the TT for the first time on mine this year and I honestly can't wait to do it on the Zed, i've doing no motorway miles on mine so am wondering if it's worth investing in the small screen for my journey up the M6 so if anyone has fitted one or advice that would be super. :ctr

The seat :lsx , I don't understand why it has to be so uncomfortable?
But hey, these things can be easily remedied with gel inserts/after market seats.
I think we all agree on the looks of the bike, it's the first thing that attracts us to the mirad of bikes for offer.
I had a budget of 4K, and was initally looking at second hand bikes, but the low pricetag of the Z attracted my attention, then of course I had to test the other bikes in the range, but these were 600cc, and their riding style not suited for me, (prefer torque having moved from a 1200 Bandit).
The Z750 was just as good as the FZ6/Hornet in terms of ride, but better looking.
I head read the reviews, but considered the price/looks/performance in that order.
When I'm a little more flush, then the Speed Triple or the FZ1 might replace my Z.
I've only managed the run the bike in before Winter set in. I was impressed at it's low down grunt and handling considering the weight of the bike. I can't wait until next month when I'll tax the bike for the summer.
The only thing I dislike about the bike the the cheap looking rear swing arm. It probably does the job, but lets the bike down.
I'm interrested in what your opinions are Simon??
Cheers,
Ollie
