Title: footpegs and shift lever

ninjaprof - November 19, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
Hi all,

I am a new rider and I am in need of a little help for my first repair to my Ninja 650. I dropped the bike and bent the shift lever and broke off the foot peg. I have two questions: First, is the shift lever replacement as simple as it appears to be? Do I have to worry about getting it positioned correctly on the shaft or does it only go on one way?

Second: How do I get the broken footpeg off? Do I pop the springs out first or remove the washer on the outside bottom of the peg mount ?

I 'm sure these are simple matters but I am new to this.

Thanks!

Gear shift just pushes on to the shaft and the pinch bolt secures it. It can go any position around the shaft. It's meant to be adjustable to suit the rider, so set it so that you can shift both up and down with minimal trouble.

Footpeg is secured by a circlip underneath. Remove that and pull out the pivot pin. Don't lose the spring.
