Title: just wondering

rayjo636 - October 10, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)
for all of you that live on the other side of the pond(atlantic) from me i was just wondering how different your 2 wheeled travels may be compared to what i have here in florida. Here it is usually warm most of the year i mean last january i would ride to work in the morning and i believe the coldest weather i rode in was 37 degrees farenheit or for you guys i guess around 3 degrees celcius but in the afternoon it would be maybe 15 degrees celcius i think around 60 farenheit and also where i am traffic is extremely bad and lane splitting in florida is frowned upon :kawa
i am new to this site so i am just lookin for conversation i suppose :267

UP HERE IN SCOTLAND,AT THE MOMENT ITS STILL REASONABLY WARM, A MIXTURE OF SUNNY DAYS AND RAINY ONES,AND THE LEAVES ARE DROPPING OFF THE TREES.
IN WINTER,YOU SOMETIMES GET 4 SEASONS IN ONE DAY.
ITS NOT JUST TRAFFIC WE NEED TO WORRY ABOUT SOME OF THE ROADS ARE PRETTY BAD.AND YES WE CAN FILTER (NOW RECOGNISED AS A LEGITIMATE MANOUVRE),BUT THERE IS ALWAYS SOME TW*T WHO TRIES TO BLOCK YOU.

BOBTHEWELDER - October 12, 2007 01:28 PM (GMT)
I LIVE ABOUT 35 MILES EAST OF INDY. ABOUT 1/2 WAY TO OHIO. I WORK IN GREENWOOD 50 MILES FROM THE HOUSE. I GET A GOOD RIDE IN WHEN I RIDE TO WORK. YOUR LUCKY, NOT TO MANY TIMES DO WE GET TO RIDE AFTER NOVEMBER. I DID RIDE TO MY SISTERS ON THANKSGIVING LAST YEAR. IT WAS 70 DEGREES.

BOB

rayjo636 - October 14, 2007 09:28 AM (GMT)
no i don't miss the cold even tho christmas is kinda messed up since it is so warm what i miss most is the fall, the changing colors and all the little fall festivals around home that the wife and i would go to

BOBTHEWELDER - October 15, 2007 12:37 AM (GMT)
YEP, THATS MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR. YOU ARE NOT MISSING MUCH THIS YEAR ALL THE DRY HOT WEATHER WE HAD IS KEEPING THE TREES FROM TURNING COLORS. AS BRIGHT ANYWAY. BUT THE SMELL AND TEMP IS HERE. I LOVE IT.

Bonjour!

well... now if you want to talk about the weather, and I am surprised you have not had any answers so far: it is afterall england's favourite topic of conversation....
Let's put it this way: I am a french citizen living in rainy, damp, grey, cold Manchester, and trust me it's not easy!!! now on top of that, I also ride a 636, and have to negotiate a major motorway on my way to work.
Filtering is allowed here at your own risk. this is not Florida, and 6 lanes motorways but, imagine: :444
It's cold, foggy, dark, wet, and when you filter traffic usually people try to race you and squeeze you in (that's usually 4x4 drivers!!). You have to clean your bike every week because of the %$£! they put on the roads in the winter!
Having said that, I do still enjoy it even if the preparation before I get on my bike is a lenghty one: hair in pig tails, layers upon layers of warm clothing (am a girl! am french and am always cold!!!!).

So there: That it is my riding experience....
Which one would you prefer? :fdq

BOBTHEWELDER - October 16, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
WHAT A GAL. I THINK SHE IS TOUGHER THAN ME (YA I AM MAN ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT) GOOD LUCK IN THOSE CONDITIONS AND RIDE SAFE!
BOB :uss

rayjo636 - October 16, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
:fxx I AGREE WITH THAT SHE SOUNDS LIKE A TOUGH GAL

catbar - October 17, 2007 11:19 AM (GMT)
Thanks very much for your sympathy guys....
maybe I need to migrate south.....

BOBTHEWELDER - October 17, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
COME ON OVER THE POND BUT I HATE TO TELL YOU THAT IT WAS SO FOGGY HERE THIS MORNING I COULD NOT SEE TO DRIVE! :693 BUT THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN MUCH HERE. AND OUR BEER IS COLD. YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE IT! :489

higgsy - October 17, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
Not content with just sticking the knife in eh BTW. You just had to twist the blade, Cold beer and hot weather that's just obscene. :nut

BOBTHEWELDER - October 17, 2007 07:24 PM (GMT)
NO, I LIVE IN INDIANA I HAVE COLD BEER AND COLD WEATHER BUT HEY, COLD BEER WILL KEEP ME BUSY UNTIL SPRING. :693 RAYJO IS THE ONE THAT HAS IT MADE!

rayjo636 - October 18, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
YEAH I GOT IT MADE I AM STILL SWEATING IN LEATHER JACKET ON THE WAY HOME EVERY DAY I ACTUALLY CAN'T WAIT TILL DECEMBER WHEN IT GETS DOWN AROUND 45 OR 50 DEGREES FARENHEIT AND WARMS UP TO 60 OR SO

BOBTHEWELDER - October 18, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)
well if you got a bike with saddle bags you could put your jacket in there. :693 just funnin you, my first bike didn't have them and it was a pain cool in the mornings and warm later hard to dress.

rayjo636 - October 18, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
:kqk I THINK A NINJA WOULD LOOK FUNNY WITH SADDLE BAGS IMO BUT ACTUALLY I WOULD RATHER SWEAT MY BUT OFF THAN TO SCRAPE MY SKIN OFF IF I HAPPEN TO GO DOWN

BOBTHEWELDER - October 18, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
ok i would say you are right. but hay you never know! i get a laugh out of the guys you see on bikes with nothing on but shorts. man if they go down! does florida have a helmet law?

rayjo636 - October 18, 2007 12:41 AM (GMT)
no helmet law here which of course is the same in indiana or at least when i lived there, here i see people in tank tops, shorts and flip flops doin 95 down the x-way

higgsy - October 18, 2007 09:22 AM (GMT)
No wonder they call motorcyclists donors out there :o

DougZ550 - October 18, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
I KNOW THE VALUE OF LEATHERS.ONCE I WAS GOING ON A MATES BIKE,AT THE LAST MINUTE I CHANGED MY MIND AND PUT THEM ON.
COMING HOME, THE BACK END LOCKED UP AT 80 AND DOWN WE WENT.THE $%£" OF MY LEATHERS WAS BADLY SCUFFED....NOW IF THAT HAD BEEN THE JEANS I WAS GOING TO WEAR....

rayjo636 - October 19, 2007 12:07 AM (GMT)
I USUALLY DO NOT WEAR FULL LEATHER GEAR BUT I DO ALWAYS WEAR MY HELMET AND 99.9% OF THE TIME WEAR MY ALPINESTAR LEATHER JACKET AND MY ICON GLOVES AND ALWAYS IN JEANS NO SLACKS OR WORK PANTS
THERE HAS ONLY BEEN THREE SEPERATE OCCASSIONS WHEN I WAS A TOTAL SQUID AND WENT OUT IN SHORTS AND TANK TOP BUT SINCE I HAVE HAD MY FRIENDLY ENCOUNTER WITH THE ASPHALT LAST YEAR I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP MY SKIN ON MY BODY AND NOT SCRAPE IT OFF THE CONCRETE :kawa

rayjo636 - October 31, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
HELLO? I AM STILL WONDERING I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO VISIT THE EUROPEAN COUNTRIES SO I JUST LIKE HEARING STORIES AND SUCH

BOBTHEWELDER - November 1, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
ya really, we hear so much and see it on tv. whats up?

rayjo636 - November 9, 2007 01:02 AM (GMT)
OK SO NOW IN FLORIDA THE TEMP IS STARTING TO DROP AND I CONTINUE TO RIDE MY BIKE TO WORK WHILE EVEYONE ELSE LOOKS AT ME LIKE I AM CRAZY, I DON'T THINK IT IS THAT BAD IT WAS 50 DEGREES FARENHEIGHT THIS MORNING AND I WILL CONTINUE TO RIDE UNTIL IT DROPS TO FREEZING. AT THAT POINT I AM EITHER CRAZY OR STUPID :uss

BOBTHEWELDER - November 9, 2007 01:09 AM (GMT)
50 IS NOT BAD WHEN IT GETS IN THE 40'S IS WHEN I STOP. IT WAS IN THE MID 50'S HERE TODAY AND SAW A COUPLE GUYS OUT. LAST YEAR I RODE ON THANKSGIVING DAY IT WAS 70 OUT. IF IT IS 50 IN THE MORNING IN FLORIDA IT GOT A LITTLE WARMER ON YOUR WAY HOME RIGHT?

rayjo636 - November 10, 2007 08:42 AM (GMT)
YEAH AROUND 50 IN THE MORNING USUALLY MEANS SOME WHERE IN THE 70s IN THE AFTERNOON WHICH FOR ME IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. THE COLDEST THAT I HAD RIDEN LAST YEAR DOWN HERE WHICH I BELIEVE WAS THE COLDEST MORNING WE HAD WAS 36 DEGREES BUT WARMED UP TO ALMOST 60 IN THE AFTERNOON :kawa
