Title: Insurance Claim Woes
Description: Still not got my bike back...

Hello All,

Need some advice please: I had an accident on my er-6f end of March this year (saw the M27 closer than I'd like to in future). Anyway, it happened due to inexperience. Thing is, I was on one of those "drive away today one-week" policies.

After many calls etc, they insurance company paid out and sent my bike to the shop to be fixed. Turns out, the main damage was ot the frame.

SO! They've had the bike since April and i've called almos every weeksince then and keep getting fobbed off. The excuses I get have been: 1. Kawasaki sent THREE bent frames 2. The clutch plate cover is missing screws etc 3. The glass oil window is out of stock.

So basiclally, these guys have had my bike since April and I am missing my machine, but whenever I call the insurance company, they tell me there's nothing they can do as it's out of their hands!

Is this all common? Am I really powerless while I wait for the bike to be returned to me? When I called today, the bloke said it would definitely be ready tomorrow (I'm not holdng my breath).

Where do I stand legally? Do I write to an ombudsman?

PLEASE HELP! Biking is becoming a distant memory...

THAT SOUNDS LIKE SH*TE.WHO ARE THE SUPPOSED REPAIRERS? NAME & SHAME THEM.ALSO,WHO ARE YOU INSURED WITH? ONCE THE POLICY RUNS OUT,FIND SOMEONE ELSE.TRY A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR INSURANCE OMBUDSMAN.

UPDATE:

So, today was the final straw! I called them first thing and they said it wouldn't be ready till tomorrow! This was my 23rd phone call! I told them I was coming to pick it up today and it had better be ready. They said they couldn't guarantee anything, so I said if it wasn't, I'd have to take things further.

Got there and guess what? It was ready!!!! When I asked what took so long, they showed me all this stuff from Kawasaki had sent them that was damaged.

Anyway, I am happy as Larry: I'm back on the road. Was a great ride from Salisbury to Bournemouth this afternoon! (saw a silver er-6f in Christchurch, who was that?)
