Title: New guy really needs some help

greenmachineH1 - July 5, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
Hello. I haven't used this forum before but I've got a problem and need some help if possible.
Last October I brought a 1989 ZXR 750 H1 and over 6 months I have restored it to its former glory (stripped whole bike down, engine rebuilt, loads of powder coating, new parts, spray job etc). Unfortunately it was stolen 2 months ago.
I'm having difficulty getting the insurance company to agree the value of the bike. I have given them reciepts and a full list of all the work carried out but they class all the work that I done as "modifications" and have offered me just £1200 which is basically what I paid for the bike in not very good condition. I believe the bike was worth more as it was in pristine condition with just 18000 miles on the clock.

They have asked me to provide proof of what the bike is worth but as these bikes are getting rare now I can't find any similar condition bkies for sale so that I can show them.

Can anyone give me a current price indication of FAIR market value. I believe it to be £2500 as the bike was in A1 condition (unfortunately I have no photos of the bike).

If anyone has any other websites that can help me I'd greatly appreciate them and also people opinions as to the FAIR market value would be great.

I will be showing this to my insurance company so I need honest info on the current value

Thanks for any help :991

check my site "bikes for sale section"
you might find something that helps, I just checked bike trader looking for one similar, and came up with:

1994 KAWASAKI ZXR ZXR750 L2 750 (private)
20,000 miles
BLACK
750 CC
L reg (1994)
20,000 miles, rare model black and purple only 20000 dry miles, long mot new full micron exhaust system new batt new clutch new chain cush drive two new tyres dyno jetted garraged present owner last 8
£1,950

if that's anything to go by though, I doubt you'll get anything the £2,500 you are hoping for, soz.

What ever you say they will go by the parkers guide

Parkers

You might sway them with Quotes from Retailers, although retailers will generally put a few 100 £ on to make money that the insurance company will then remove.

They will not care about the money you have spent, the bike will be classed as bad good mint......

Any money you have spent, will unfortunately be your loss....

Sorry - I hate giving bad news. Especially to another H1'er

Have you tried Parkers Price Guide for motorcycles ?

thought Bannon had already said that. Not a bad site, ain't got the price for mr GPZ RX1000 (ZX10a) or my Model 16 AJS, yet alone the price of a '49 Guiller, but at least they are trying.
