Title: Vulcan 2000 load capacity
Description: Bottoms out way too easy

I have an '07 Vulcan 2000 Classic LT. A dip in the road bottoms it out 25% of the time. On an interstate off ramp (this was 2 up) another dip resulted in the muffler grinding on the pavement. Can the suspension be beefed up? Its almost unsafe to ride. Dealer was clueless.

Have you checked the pressure in the rear shocks?

Meanstreak,

Vulcans, at least the model I specified, do not have air adjustable shocks. Nomads do.

The owners manual explains how to remove the seat and locate the shock adjuster on the shock. Mine did this until I adjusted the shock. You have to remove the right side cover, pull the cord to release the seat, remove two bolts to remove passenger seat. Then you will see the screw. Factory is usually 5 clicks out. To set the adjustment screw in to stop. Then screw counterclockwise to proper adjustment. Had to set mine to 3 clicks out.

MY 06 VULCAN 900 HAS A ADJUSTER SHOCK. I WOULD THINK THE 07'S WOULD ALSO

Vulcanized,

Your shock should have 7 settings. It was more than likely set at 3 or 4 from the factory. If you have your bike loaded this setting will not be enough to carry the load. You need to set the shock to 6 or 7.

"another dip resulted in the muffler grinding on the pavement." Bet that was a real OH "!$%! moment :laf

Hope this helps you!
