Does anyone know how to patch in an oil cooler on a 1977 KZ 650? I have a mill and a lathe if it's necessary to machine an adapter.

I have just been looking at pics in the Haynes manual. I cant see any pick up points on the KZ650 engine for an oil cooler.....

It's done using a plug near the oil filter housing and a plug just below the timing cover. Easy, compared to an old Honda(can I say that here?) four.

Hi, the easyest way that I found for patching in an oilcooler is to use a GT750 sump. This just bolts straight on as a direct replacement, you can then use the GT pipework and cooler. the only other thing you have to do is weld some brackets onto the frame for the cooler to bolt to; you will have to do this no matter which way you decide to go. I know the GT one works well as I have fitted one to my KZ650c powered trike. Take care and ride free. Andy. :228

Here in Canada, a GT 750 is a 70s Suzuki two stroke. What machine are you referring to?
Anyone looking to do a cooler on a 650, go with Klasmo fittings, a two year old could hook it up!
But I did finally pick up a'78 KZ 650 SR, and after a lot of work I can honestly say it's a powerful little brute! Shimming the valves is a nightmare; the cams spent most of July in a box.

Sorry for the confusion, but here in the UK there is a Kawazaki GT750, 4 cylinder, 4 stroke, shaftdrive. This was the oil cooler and sump i'm refering to. :074
